Will the Romanian wine be controlled or protected? Certainly not both...

One of the Regulations of the European Union that is late to be applied in Romania is the inscription of wine labels with PDO, instead of DOC (Protected Designation of Origin, instead of Controlled) and PGI instead of GI (Protected Geographical Indication), according to article 4 of the EU Delegated Commission Regulation 2019/33.

The measure is intended to ensure that operators and consumers in all Member States can read and understand these names more easily.

In Romania, until the punctual regulation of the use of these acronyms, it is recommended that they exist at least on the labels for the external markets.
